My dentist once told me that letting go is like pulling a tooth. When it was pulled out, you’re relieved, but how many times does your tongue run itself over the spot where the tooth once was? Probably a hundred times a day. Just because it wasn’t hurting you doesn’t mean you didn’t notice it. It leaves a gap and sometimes you see yourself missing it terribly. It’s going to take a while, but it takes time. Should you have kept the tooth? No, because it was causing you so much pain. Therefore, move on and let go.

Was attracted to this film for two main reasons..
Firstly, I had enjoyed 《风声》”The Message” very much and definitely did not mind catching another espionage film. Throw Zhou Xun and Tony Leung into the mix, and you no longer have any reason not to watch it. And boy did it not disappoint at all!

The film was brilliantly directed tho I couldn’t help but detect a very strong Lee Ang flavour to it. (Might have been because of the “Life of Pi” trailer shown just right before!) The pace of the film was also well complemented by the beautiful score which made my cinematic experience all the more delectable. Definitely one of those films that leaves a nice aftertaste in your palate.

The pairing of Tony Leung and Zhou Xun was simply impeccable. Leung shone in his role as a blind despite not being able to use his eyes to act, while Zhou’s role fitted her like a glove. But then again, she never fails to make every role seem so effortless! I had looked forward to more of Mavis Fan though, and I have to admit her role did not do her any justice. Makes you feel like she was cast as a box office lure.

The ending of the film was a little weak in my opinion. I would have preferred a stronger ending to match the weight of the film. But then again, that’s just my personal taste. All in all, I give it 4 stars for the way it’s made me feel. Afterall, a film that would compel you to write a review for it definitely has to command some allure… x LT

From the time I started adoring my hero in the dark suit, I’ve always felt Gotham City was a lot like the world we live in; decadent. And it can feel a little hopeless sometimes without a hero. A hero who is every bit like you and I, yet claiming no credit, needing no reward, and having no agenda. Tonight after watching “The Dark Knight Rises”, all the more was I impressed with what he stood for, and the price he was willing to pay. How many would choose the route less travelled, or should I say, to pave a way where there is none. It requires sweat, blood, passion and whole lot of persistence. We see all the other villains in the show, and they all go thru the same sad path Bruce went through but they all choose to take the easier way out. They choose to see truth through their tainted eyes. Their driving force is hate and their tool is violence. “But Batman has made the hard choice, the choice few would make - The right one.” -Alfred, The Dark Knight. Therefore, it is no wonder why this man is my hero. He brings hope and he is my inspiration.. x LT
